1/17/2023 0 Comments Aeon supreme commanderWe are talking here about something like a full arsenal launches to have a decent enough coverage in the area the acu could be within the impact delay and doing enough damage on it.ĪCU remaining undiscoverd for even a few minutes? The world trying to find out wtf is going on by sending planes / helicopters to investigate? People trying to communicate with "the alien"? Nation leaders waiting minutes to make sure nobody gets the wrong idea about nukes being launched? Being to scared about killing millions of your own people and only launch a single or few nukes?ītw, tactic if the ACU wants to totally cheese it and starts in a city: Build t1 unit factory, spam t1 engineers, snowball while sending them out at max speed in all direction and reclaim skycrapers. The only possible way to win this would be the ACU spawning somewhere were its seen _at once_ (so chance for its stealth to give it time), and humanity to _immediatly_, like, within the minute, start a carpet bombing with strategic nuclear weapon. Yeah, with SupCom its extra-bad because the ACU is canonically an extremely durable and strong unit even in its high-powered verse, and the whole idea of exponential expansion is supported by lore much more than in other RTSes. The only win condition for the Earth is literally ‘ACU gates in to a nuclear minefield with ICBMs already fired at the location’ ACUs can tank multiple small tactical nukes (coming from Strategic Bombers and tactical missiles, and remember that they are ‘small’ in relation to multimegaton cruise missiles) and almost certainly one-hit kill anything we can deploy on land. We can't even outlast the pilot's stamina and gank them when they have to fall asleep, since not only can Aeon pilots fight for ten days straight and still be functional, (as per SC1 Aeon mission 3) but they can simply play hide and seek by teleporting to a random spot at the bottom of the ocean and setting up some quick defenses and an early warning sensor perimeter before getting some shuteye.Ĭlick to shrink. So there are 2 major problems here.ġ: Aeon units are absurdly better than modern equivalents to the point that Modern Earth needs nukes to kill even regular T3 units in a reasonable amount of timeĢ: Aeon production speed is fast enough that you could probably launch an ICBM at the gate-in location the instant it appears and it still wouldn’t get there before an SMD is built.Ĭombined, that means that faster than any force on earth can respond, the ACU is already deploying an ever-growing force of nearly invincible units faster than we could make the bullets that won’t do anything to them anyways, much less nuclear weapons.Įven if a large group of armored vehicles armed with antitank weapons attacked the ACU immediately upon gate-it, it could fight them off as long as no nukes were involved. (to add insult to injury, cities are mass-rich sources of income for an early base to reclaim, allowing the mechanical army to grow much faster than it would otherwise) Rinse and repeat as needed with a new disposable army each time until the world leaders are forced to surrender. This is lopsided enough that if you went with relatively low-end calcs for Supcom and saddled the commander with a similarly restricted unit cap of 100 units it wouldn't change much either, since having the ACU teleport into the middle of a city and set up a single T1 land factory and 2-3 T1 power generators before teleporting away again (less than four minutes spent there in total, even if those power generators are the ACU's only source of energy for teleporting away) would be more than enough to either level the city with a growing swarm within short order, or force us to immediately break out enough nukes that the city is toast anyways. The only way a single ACU doesn't take this is if the pilot is an idiot, or if they're unfortunate enough to be gated close to a large nuke already primed to go off.Įven in near-ideal circumstances, our response times are just too low to respond to it effectively before it has a chance to upgrade itself, at which point it will be able to nope out of any potential trouble within seconds via teleport and then be back in business a few minutes later even if it's the only survivor.
